ROGER FRITZ – “183”
September 14, 2016 - October 30, 2016
The exhibition “183”, by ROGER FRITZ, film director, actor and photographer, whose work featured such a number of film and music stars from all over the world, takes place in the newly refurbished Mandarin Oriental in Munich.
The exhibition is kindly hosted by Wolfgang Greiner, General Manager of the Mandarin Oriental, and organized by Emma Mailova, director of the ART & SPACE Gallery.
The exhibition „183“ is on view in the main lobby of the Mandarin Oriental from September 14 till Oktober 30, 2016
The selection of photographs for the exhibition “183”, which is dedicated to the Oktoberfest time in Bavaria, is based on the criteria of featuring the highly esthetical and human side of the Oktoberfest feast. Thus one can see ladies in furs and elegant hats, being graciously carried in the traditional Bavarian carriages.
Men are gathered together into even lines, wearing neat and befitting traditional cloths, marching in a circle, in time to the music of this customary dance.
You can observe gentle and loving glances and kindness all around. There is no hint of impatience or rudeness; no one is overwhelmed or rushed. There is only a magical and blissful feeling around.
Roger Fritz says that he plans to continue working on the Oktoberfest series again and again, as he feels that this Bavarian tradition which took its roots in the 19th century is still extremely important for the Bavarian people. And it is not about the touristic popularity of the event or the dominating influence of the fashion industry, but it’s about uniting and strengthening the Bavarian people, and all the people involved as well.
